World Day for Farmed Animals at the Sanctuary

Our visitors enjoyed a peaceful afternoon amongst the animals and birds who are fortunate to be with us at the Sanctuary. The sun shone, Tilly the Basset did her very best to join in with everyone’s picnic and Rambo's (one of our elderly rams who we can assure you has earned his name) only regret was that the fence was in between him and his many admirers.

Sasha and Lesley Scoop First Prize

When Sasha our rescued Cavalier King Charles Spaniel made it clear that she really would prefer to live without other dogs around her she found an excellent foster home in the village with Lesley who had been a big fan of hers for some time. At a local dog show this autumn they won first prize for “The Dog Who Looked Most Like It’s Owner.”

Stranded Fish Given Helping Hands

When the beck which runs through our fields flooded recently we had to call out the Environment Agency to clear some of the weed so that the water could flow freely again. Louise and Dave, who fortunately, were by the beck at the time feeding the pigs, noticed that a lot of fish were stranded in the weed so they spent the next half an hour or so putting them back into the free flowing water. Their kindness was rewarded by a glimpse of a king fisher which none of us had ever seen before.
