NEWS - January 2014

Thank You To Michael For His Santa Run

michael

After a visit to the Sanctuary, nine year old Michael not only adopted Jane the turkey and Georgina the pig, but decided he wanted to raise money to save the Sanctuary. On Sunday December 15th Michael along with his Dad, ran a 5K marathon his first, completing it in 37 minutes. Michael’s run raised £200 to help save the lives of our animals. THANK YOU Michael from the animals and Jan.

New Arrivals

geraldine

Geraldine was breed locally, under good conditions, but was still destined to be part of the “festive celebrations”. On hearing this, Hayley who works at the Sanctuary, literally grabbed some cash, rushed off down the lane and came back with Geraldine under her arm. Geraldine shares Jane’s accommodation at night but, we think due to the disparity in their ages, they spend their days apart. The older Jane visiting her long standing friend Hosanna the donkey in the top paddock whilst the much younger Geraldine explores further afield, likes visiting the hens but stays clear of Grizelda the goose and her Gang. I don’t blame her.

Eunice from Yorkshire

eunice

Yorkshire seems to be becoming awfully popular with the Sanctuary. This is now the third group of sheep, well OK one was a lamb, to make their four hour journey down the M1. Eunice and her seven friends had been used commercially which their owner decided to stop but didn’t want the sheep to go for slaughter. They are all middle aged and have been very well cared for. They arrived just before Christmas.

Basher from Gloucestershire

Basher is brown and certainly lives up to his name, in fact he appears to have taken over from Rambo, so no photos of him, sorry. He also arrived just before Christmas with six of his friends as their owners were moving, couldn’t take the sheep with them and most certainly didn’t want them to be slaughtered.

To save the lives of Basher, Eunice and their friends please donate today to stop our eviction.
