Gabriella and Grace

two lambs

You may remember from last month’s News Page that these two young ladies were brought to the Sanctuary having been neglected and both had infected eyes, sadly one of Gabriella’s eyes was so badly damaged that it had to be removed. Back then they were trampolining on and off Janet’s bed during the night between feeds. They quickly got to the stage of chewing CD’s and using shoes as a toilet, it’s then that all the bedroom lambs have to vacate the bedroom for the comforts of their own pen in one of the barns, judging that they are well on the way to their recovery. Gabriella’s and Grace’s pen is next door to, the elderly and blind from birth, Daisy who has been a surrogate Mum for many of our orphaned lambs. Daisy sleeps against the Girl’s pen imparting tales of the Sanctuary and her life with us to her young charges. As you can see form their photo Grace and Gabriella are growing into strong, happy and inquisitive girls with Gabriella not in the least bit daunted by having only one eye.

Sooty Succeeds At Last

sooty2

Last year Sooty the hen laid an egg with the help of Basil the cockerel sadly that egg never hatched. However, the fickle Sooty, having changed partners to Percy the Perkin cockerel, has succeeded in not only laying an egg but hatching it this time. We are not yet sure whether Sooty and Percy’s offspring is a boy or a girl, as Sooty will not let anyone near her precious baby.
