Colin the pig

Colin is a Mangalica, or "sheep pig" a breed that originated in Hungary. Colin is a very very lucky pig, having been sent to the slaughterhouse twice and then sent home because his identification papers weren't in order. Colin and two brothers were bought for a young couple as wedding presents, along with an assortment of other small animals.

Circumstances changed, sadly the smallholding where they were all kept was put up for sale and the animals re-homed or sent for slaughter.

Colin's brothers were slaughtered, he was returned to live another day while his paperwork was corrected, it was to be third time lucky.

Colin had a guardian angel, in the form of the lady who bought the smallholding. She was vegan.

Colin stayed where he was, played football with the children and the dogs, happy as a pig in muck.

Except it became obvious after a while that Colin was missing the company of his brothers, which is why we were contacted and asked if we could offer him a home with other pigs.

He now lives happily with Gloria, his very bossy companion. He loves mud, he loves apples, he loves cake, and he loves a good old scratch on his head.
