Bluebell and Willow

They were brought to us late one evening in May 2019 after being found straying alone on a busy road. The following day, we contacted their owner—a lady who had never owned cattle before. She didn’t have any land of her own but had rented a piece of scrub land thirty miles from her home.

Enthralled by the idea of breeding “mini Jerseys,” also known as creating “designer animals,” she had taken on this venture.

The two girls were 9 or 10 months old, very small and exceptionally friendly. They were remarkably lucky not to have been involved in a road traffic accident.

We took them in to keep them safe while the owner worked on rebuilding her inadequate fences. Weeks turned into months, but the fences remained unrepaired, and during this time, the friendly girls grew very settled and contented.

We cared for them, fed them, and provided everything they needed. Eventually, we persuaded the owner to transfer ownership to us. These two will never be put in calf; they now have a forever home with us.
