Little Ellie, the young ewe we rescued from a nearby village, is thriving in her new home with us. Ellie’s previous owner believed in letting her roam free, so she was released from her shed every day. She took full advantage of her freedom, exploring gardens and occasionally wandering into houses if doors were left ajar.
She was also a familiar sight outside the local village pub, where she was well-known and often greeted. Concerns for Ellie’s safety grew among the neighbours, as she frequently grazed along a narrow roadside verge next to a busy, fast-moving road.
Her owner, who was reportedly aggressive and unwilling to part with his ‘pet’ despite the risk, eventually agreed to let Ellie come to us. Now safely confined to one of our fields, Ellie has quickly won over everyone she meets.
Passers-by using the public footpath that runs through her field are greeted by Ellie with enthusiastic persistence, clearly signalling her desire for treats. The locals have caught on, and Ellie now enjoys breakfast, lunch, and dinner brought to her by her new admirers. She’s a delightful and friendly little sheep with a truly larger-than-life personality.
