The first sheep Jan bought at the market was a small, bony old ewe, slumped against the wall with her head hanging low. Bidding began at 50p, and Jan secured her for £1, much to the amusement and jeering of the other dealers.
Jan named her Erica. It took several months of dedicated care, numerous vet visits, and Erica’s own fierce will to survive before she fully recovered. We have taken in countless animals on the brink of death, all of whom fight valiantly to stay alive. Remarkably, despite their hardships, they bear no grudge.
