Mr Bean was rescued from a market, having been purchased from a dealer who was later banned from keeping animals. Clearly subjected to severe mistreatment, Mr Bean was initially terrified of everyone and everything. However, with time, love, and patient care, he has become quite friendly with those he knows and trusts, though he remains shy around newcomers.
Ginger was bought from a market in 1995, when he was just four months old. Found curled up in the corner of a bare concrete pen, he had been weaned far too early and prodded to his feet by his previous owner, who repeatedly hit him with a stick to make him move around the sale ring.
Jan purchased him for £4 and brought him home in the back of her Land Rover, nestled on a pile of blankets. After months of dedicated care, veterinary treatment, and a special diet, Ginger thrived and blossomed, eventually growing to a height of 32 inches.
