These two strikingly handsome and exceptionally friendly boys have joined us very recently. Valais Blacknose sheep, hailing from Switzerland, were originally bred for their meat and distinctive fleeces.
Their unique charm is evident from the moment they are born; they are remarkably human-friendly, akin to large, playful, fluffy puppies.
These qualities eventually captured the attention of Europe, and a few years ago, they made their way to the UK. Demand surged immediately, but with their cost reaching into the thousands of pounds, only dedicated sheep breeders could afford them.
The sheep themselves boast impressive pedigrees, and only those meeting the highest breed standards were accepted, leaving the rest of their admirers to dream from afar.
One of our supporters wanted to express gratitude to everyone who has worked tirelessly at the sanctuary caring for our animals. They sought to know what gift would be most appreciated.
After some research, we reached out to top breeder Renee Snouckaert van Schauburg, sharing our story. We assured her that the boys would have a lifelong home with us and play an important role as Therapy Sheep.
In their tranquil paddock, anyone sitting quietly will soon find two large, black, woolly heads resting gently on their shoulder; remain still long enough, and they may even drift off to sleep.
We are immensely grateful to Renee for allowing them to come to us for a “token” price. We hope you enjoy your time with Noblesse Iggy and Noblesse Isaac, as they are properly named.
