In December 2021, we took in a few little Soay sheep that were destined for market, with an uncertain fate awaiting them beyond that. Two of the ewes began to look suspiciously round, and before long, they surprised us with lambs.
The first ewe gave birth to a single lamb, a little ewe we named Nancy. The second ewe took us all by surprise by delivering triplets—all boys, whom we named Oliver, Bumble, and Toby.
Toby is quite remarkable; though he’s the smallest of the lot, he’s a perfect miniature—tiny but sturdy. These lambs are growing up to be incredibly cheeky and adventurous!
They often escape their paddock, loudly announcing their escapades to everyone around. They’ve even taken to sneaking into Jan’s garden to munch on her plants, but they always make their way back to their paddock by dinnertime!
