Warm weather brings joy to our animals – from pigs in their wallows to chickens chasing the last rays of sunshine.
What beautiful weather we have had, and doesn’t everything seem that little bit better when the sun shines?
Pigs have been enjoying their wallows – some resembling swimming pools – while sheep relax under the shade of the trees.
The chickens love their late-night bedtime routine, soaking up every last ray of sunshine.
And for the staff, we can’t wait for showers when we get home!
We’re gearing up for our first Sheepover of the year on 31st May! Pitch your tent, cosy up with our rescued animals, tuck into plant-based goodies from No Frickin Chicken, stretch out with Sunday morning yoga from Whole Heart Yoga, and treat yourself to sweet delights from Golden Glaze Doughnuts.
Tickets are just £10-£20 – don’t miss it!
Our alpacas have found the perfect way to stay cool – splashing and lounging in the brook.
The Alpacas have moved fields, and much to their delight, the brook still has water in it – the perfect way to cool off on these sunny days.
We normally give them a paddling pool, but the brook is even better for them to lie in and cool off.
Eliza here looks like she enjoys a mud bath as much as the pigs do.
From struggling to stand to racing around with new friends – Rooster’s journey is one of hope and happiness.
The best kind of Easter is a compassionate one, where lambs are loved for the individuals they are and not viewed simply as a meal.
This Easter, we welcomed little Rooster the lamb to his forever home. He was found orphaned at just a few days old, unable to walk properly on his front legs – he could only shuffle on his knees.
His kind and compassionate rescuer took him in and did a wonderful job of nursing him back to full health.
He’s now strong enough to run around, and it was time to find him a home where he would have other sheep friends – which is where we stepped in.
Rooster has settled into sanctuary life amazingly. He’s been running around the paddock with Bobby and Bonnie, free to enjoy life just as he should.
We’re excited to welcome you every weekend – book ahead or simply walk in and meet our wonderful animals.
We are thrilled to announce that we’re open on weekends now! The animals can’t wait to greet all our visitors.
PLEASE NOTE – When you come to the sanctuary, please enter through the double gates at the corner of School Lane and park near the barns.
Look for the big green sign on the fence – you won’t be able to miss it. Walk-ins are welcome, or you can see the weekend opening days here and book online!
Our first-ever Spring Open Weekend was a heartwarming success, thanks to our amazing supporters.
We kicked off 2025 with our first ever Spring Open Weekend, and wow, what a weekend it was. The sun was shining, the visitors flocked in, and we welcomed both new and familiar supporters through the gates.
It was wonderful to have long conversations with everyone, and the positive feedback we received was truly heartwarming! Thank you.
Staff here at the Sanctuary have been incredibly busy since Christmas, so hearing such uplifting comments makes everything feel achievable.
We are deeply grateful for your support, and the animals absolutely adored all the love and attention.
