NEWS - February 2014

One Year On

Twelve months ago Larry was found in a snowstorm in North Wales laid in the shelter of a hayrack, or what bit of shelter there was. His finders, Dawn and Alan, thought he was dead but went to check. Amazingly Larry was still alive, just. Thanks to their compassion and determination that Larry was going to live he did. Fed on warm milk, wrapped in blankets he was never left alone. Dawn took time off work and slept with him in a sleeping bag in the lounge at nights. When she had to go back to work her Mum took over during the day with Alan doing the night shift. Today Larry is a very sturdy lad, Dawn and Alan come to visit him a couple of times a month he hasn’t forgotten their voices we don’t think he ever will. Instead of dying neglected in a snowstorm, Larry was given life. For his life to continue we need your help to fight being evicted from Manor Orchard Farm. There is nowhere else for Larry to go, Dawn and Alan saved him once we ask you to please save him again.

Lucy was also brought to the Sanctuary by Alan and Dawn as a companion for Larry. About the same age but not having died in the fields, Lucy was an orphan and had been bought by a woman who reared orphaned lambs and then sold them as pets. She and Larry spent their first few weeks here supervised by Christopher an elderly ram. They ran, skipped and played in their pen in the barn, drank bottles like they were going out of fashion and grew and grew. Today Lucy is rather pretty, bigger than Larry and loves having her face stroked.

Without your help Lucy and Larry will not live to see their third year of life, we already have some of the funds necessary to buy Manor Orchard Farm. To stop being evicted, for Larry and Lucy to live we need your help now.
