Hi we’re Clive & Ernie! 

We remember the morning everything changed. It was cold, and the sky was still dark when we heard the familiar rumble of a vehicle coming up the track. We were standing together, as we always did, feeling a mix of nerves and something we couldn’t quite place – hope.

For a long time, life hadn’t been easy. Our owner wasn’t well, and neither were we. Our teeth ached whenever we tried to chew, and our bellies felt wrong – always tight, always uncomfortable. We were thin, our coats rough, and our spirits a little faded. We didn’t know what it meant to feel safe.

But then they came. Two kind people, speaking gently, moving slowly. We didn’t understand it at first – why they looked at us with such softness, why they offered us treats, why they carefully guided us into the warm, sturdy trailer. We travelled a long way in the dark, huddled together, trying to make sense of it all.

When the trailer doors finally opened, it was night again, but this place was different. Fresh straw beneath our hooves, soft lights around us, and a deep, comforting silence. We were nervous at first, peeking out from behind each other, unsure what would happen next.

But as the days passed, something magical began to happen. Our new friends cleaned our coats, brought us sweet hay, and, most importantly, they just let us be ourselves. Our teeth were cared for – oh, what a relief that was! – and our upset bellies slowly settled. We were given space to explore, to play… and play we did.

Now, we’re not the timid boys who stepped off that trailer. We’re cheeky, we’re curious, and we’re a little bit mischievous – but in the best possible way. We love chasing each other around the paddock, stealing the odd grooming brush when nobody’s looking, and nuzzling the kind humans who make us feel safe.

Our sanctuary isn’t just a place – it’s a promise. A promise that we are loved, that we are safe, and that we will never be forgotten again. And we have each other – brothers, best friends, and partners in adventure.

So if you visit, don’t be surprised if you catch us making a bit of a fuss or trying to steal your hat – it’s just our way of saying thank you for believing in us.
